KUALA LUMPUR: Seventy-four-year-old Mohd Tahir Ahmad has varied interests ranging from vintage cars to fish rearing and growing fruits. Yet, the aquaculture and agriculture consultant could still find time for his law studies.
Yesterday, he walked tall as a graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Jurisprudence at the Universiti Malaya here.
Joyful duo: Tahir and Ika Fatiha sharing a joke after their graduation ceremony at Universiti Malaya in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
When asked about his achievement at such an age, he said: “Age is strictly a case of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.”
Even more exciting for him was that his niece Ika Fatiha Ab Jabar, 23, also obtained her degree in Law with him.
“I went trough many obstacles to complete this course but finally managed to pull through,” said Tahir, an aquaculture and agriculture project adviser with MTA Trading.
“And, my wife Dr Hapsah Nawawi has been supportive,” added Tahir, who collects classic and antique cars as a hobby.
He also manages his own durian and dokong orchards and rears fish as well as turtles. “Apart from tending to these, I found time to study,” he said.
Ika Fatiha said: “I am proud of my uncle. He proved anyone can achieve what he could today.
“It’s an amazing feeling because we enrolled together and are graduating together.”
p/s : This kind of news always give an inspiration for me every convo season. It always keep me motivated to further my study back then despite the age....if they, the ppl who's like our grandpa grandma can do it, why can't we? Really love his quote...“Age is strictly a case of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.”
